Artificial intelligence (AI) offers users endless opportunities to make productive use of this technology’s capabilities. Now, Google has introduced another update — Gemini AI is now integrated into Google Drive and will help users manage video content.

At the end of May, Google announced the option for users to access Gemini AI services in Google Drive. From now on, users can utilize the chatbot not only for summarizing or processing PDF files but also for managing video content.

This means that from now on, Gemini AI can answer questions related to uploaded videos:

  1. Summarize all the material.
  2. Provide specific insights about a particular question you are interested in.
  3. Highlight the key points presented in the video content.

The tool is available in the Google Workspace interface for those with plans such as Business Standard and Plus, Enterprise Standard and Plus, as well as customers with the Gemini Education or Gemini Education Premium add-on, Google One AI Premium, or Gemini Business and Gemini Enterprise.

The feature is currently available only in English, and for it to work properly, video subtitles must be enabled. Although this new Google feature is already accessible, full rollout may take a few weeks. Additionally, to use the tool, users must toggle on smart features and personalization and access it via Google Drive’s overlay previewer.

Gemini AI integration is growing, and so is the overall use of this tool. The Google Gemini AI app now has over 400 million active monthly users and is rapidly catching up with OpenAI’s ChatGPT, which opened the doors to an AI breakthrough and has around 600 million monthly users.

What Does This Mean for Everyday Users?

Beyond Google expanding AI’s possibilities, everyday Google users will save time that would otherwise be spent analysing video content. Until now, users had to watch the entire video to understand or learn something, but now all the information will be available by simply asking the AI chatbot a question.

This will be especially useful for anyone who deals with large amounts of video content daily, and particularly for those who have had to process lengthy recordings. This includes work meetings, educational materials, and any other video content with subtitles.

Final Word

These new Google features and AI integration in Google Drive show the company’s growing commitment to positioning Gemini as a helpful assistant across platforms — not just in Drive, but also in Gmail and Docs. At the same time, it reflects the overall growth of AI’s potential in everyday tasks and its integration into work processes.
