Daily workflows are gradually becoming more intertwined with artificial intelligence (AI), and its various features are enhancing different areas of activity. Google is taking another step forward by introducing the new “Catch Me Up” file tracking feature, which is now integrated into Google Drive services.

At the beginning of June, Google Workspace announced another update. This time, the “Catch Me Up” feature was introduced to help users more easily keep track of updates in their files.
With the integration of Google Gemini, the model can recognize specific files in a user’s Drive and track their changes. It will then structure the information and present a summary to the user. The system will be able to do this for file edits on Docs and file comments on Docs, Sheets, and Slides.
Although the company notes that the summaries themselves won’t be very detailed, they will undoubtedly help track changes that may be important to users. This service will be particularly useful for business clients and large teams working in this segment, who deal with many shared files in their daily work.
Catch Me Up Comes with Limitations
Currently, the “Catch Me Up” feature is only available in English, and only users operating in this language can see summaries of specific file changes or comments.
The feature is also available to the following Google Workspace users:
Business Standard and Plus
Enterprise Standard and Plus
Customers with the Gemini Education or Gemini Education Premium add-on
Google One AI Premium
Gemini Is Being Integrated into Google Drive Services
Even without the “Catch Me Up” feature, Google has been integrating Gemini into Google Drive for some time. With Gemini, users can receive summaries of long documents or entire folders. They can also generate ideas or topics that require gathering information from one or more files in their Google Drive. Additionally, you can quickly extract facts or other relevant information from a document without reading the entire text.
“Catch Me Up” Is Yet Another Proof Point
Such AI-integrated features from Google are further proof of how AI enhances work capabilities. These tools save users time, which they can then allocate to more complex tasks. At the same time, they boost business productivity and help avoid human errors.
Final Thoughts
At the same time, AI technology demonstrates its prowess — how advanced tech can transform the workspace and automate repetitive tasks. The “Catch Me Up” feature is just one example of Google Gemini’s capabilities, and we can expect even broader integration — not only in Google Drive but across other platforms — in the coming years.
